We Grow Delicious Oysters Resourcefully and Responsibly

At Maine Ocean Farms, we challenge ourselves to continuously improve our processes and our product to benefit the Maine waters that we love and the communities we live in. At the root of our business is a deep connection to the ocean, which has provided us much experience and a reason to jump out of bed every morning.

Our Process: How we grow them

Our farming practices implement floating bags and bottom cages to maintain low profile on the surface. The relatively exposed location of our site to wind and wave action naturally tumbles our oysters keeping the shells clean and promoting the growth of a deeper cup and plumper oysters inside.

They taste like the clean, cool water that they’re grown in.

At Maine Ocean Farms we grow oysters of the highest quality, not the largest quantity.

Our farm is sited in an area of the bay with lots of tidal flushing and minimal boat traffic which provides all the right ingredients giving them their delicious flavor.

Did you know?

Oysters are filter feeders, sorting and eating plankton brought in and out by every tide. In the warm summer months, a single market size oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day. Doing their part in helping to maintain the clean, cool waters of Maine.
